Tiny silver birdhouses and fairy cottages are the perfect way to explore the magic of silver metal clay, which works like clay but becomes .999 pure silver after it’s fired in a kiln. Students will learn to make three dimensional hollow forms in metal clay, add a base and shaped roof, and accent pieces such as windows, towers and chimneys. We will use syringe type clay, hand forming, carving, and molding to create texture and embellishments.
The class will be focused on making tiny structures, but techniques learned can translate to many other intermediate to advanced projects.
This intermediate-level class is only for students who have taken at least one precious metal clay class.
Students will pick up their finished piece a week after class due to firing constraints.
Bring a snack and a drink, and dress in comfortable clothes.
