What to Do after the 4th of July?

Soon it will be July 8 … the Saturday after the 4th of July. No fireworks … no picnics … and you, and maybe your bored teen, simply have to find something fun and creative to do!

It’s Time to
Learn Silver Clay!

Silver metal clay is like magic! It starts in clay form and then fires to pure fine silver. Shape and texture it with simple tools to make genuine solid silver jewelry without solder, saws or toxic chemicals. After firing with a butane torch or kiln, the clay binders burn away and the silver molecules fuse together, resulting in .999 pure fine silver jewelry.  You can even add gemstones for extra bling!

And if you have a bored teenager at home, sign them up, too! (12 or older if you come together – 14 or older to come without a parent or guardian.)

Seaglass Class THIS WEEKEND

Do you want to create unique jewelry with your sea glass? In this beginning jewelry techniques class, classically trained goldsmith Lynette Cederquist will teach you to create beautiful bezel settings to showcase your glass. During our two days together you will learn how to drill, saw, form a bezel, solder, file, and polish. After a bit of practice on copper, we will be working with silver to create a bezel set, sea glass pendant for you to take home.

Kids Bored Already??

It’s finally summer and we have the perfect outing for your vacationing child and accompanying adult!

On Wednesday June 15 bring a child age 10 and up, and spend a fun afternoon making jewelry. You will both learn to use basic jewelry tools like pliers and hammers. You’ll learn how to texture and shape metal, string beads, add findings (the things that hold your jewelry together, like ear wires and jump rings), and lots more!

New Classes Just Posted

We just finished posting several new classes and workshops including some really exciting guest teachers!

Love the look of gold, but not the price? Keum-Boo is the ancient art of applying gold foil to silver in jewelry-making. It is surprisingly easy to do and can take your jewelry to a new level of sophistication. Choose from two available dates for this class.

Or how about picking up some versatile metalsmithing skills while making a pair of dramatic, modern, mixed-metal cymbal earrings with Rose Pabon.

Check out all the details in “Upcoming Events”

And don’t forget to check back regularly for new classes and workshops.
