Wed, Nov 15, 2017-Sun, Nov 19, 2017 -- 9:00 AM-5:00 PM at Creator Haven LLC

Fit YOUR Schedule: Choose a 3, 4 or 5 Day Workshop!

Handmade chains are elegant, whether worn alone or as the perfect complement to other handmade jewelry. Learn the ancient technique of making chains from classically trained metalsmith, Lynette Cederquist.

Lynette will guide you in the exploration of making both ancient and modern chains along with terminations and some unique clasps. She will include an overview of tools and materials specific to this fascinating technique along with the importance of wire gauge, dowel diameter ratios, precise fusing, shaping the links, weaving chains, and using a specially made drawplate specific to each chain.

During the 3-day class you will learn basic techniques, make some of your own specialty tools and fabricate several sample chains. Frequent demonstrations and practice time will allow you to immerse yourself in these fascinating techniques.

During the optional 4th and 5th days you will delve further into more exotic and advanced techniques  and be guided in completing one or more wearable projects.

The Required Materials Kit ($60) includes: .999 silver wire, tubing, sheet stock, solder, awl, bench pin, and white soldering pad.

All necessary tools for this class will be made available for your use. However, you are welcome to bring some or all of your own tools as you prefer. A list of required tools will be provided when we receive your registration deposit.
